Autumn House Estate Planning, a service of Maple Law Firm wants this website to be usable by everyone, including people who browse with a screen reader, a keyboard alone, magnification, or with motion and colour preferences set in their operating system.
The standard we aim at
We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. That is the standard usually referenced in relation to the Americans with Disabilities Act, and it is the one we test against.
What has been tested
Accessibility on this site is checked by automated tooling on every page, and by hand for the things automated tooling cannot judge. The most recent review covered:
- Every page listed in the sitemap, at a desktop width and at a phone width.
- The cookie banner and its preferences dialog, including with the dialog open.
- Keyboard-only operation, including the visible focus indicator on every control and the skip-to-content link.
- Page layout at 320 pixels wide, and with text spacing increased the way a reader extension would.
- Colour contrast, heading structure, form labels and error messages, and whether every link makes sense read on its own.
- Carousels, which can be paused and do not move on their own when a visitor has asked for reduced motion.
- Our video, which is captioned, has its full transcript published beneath it, and loads nothing from YouTube until you choose to press play.
Known limitations
We would rather name the gaps than imply there are none. As of the date above:
- Some documents and third-party tools we link to are published by others, and we do not control their accessibility. That includes our online payment pages, which are operated by LawPay.
- Our video is hosted on YouTube. It is captioned and its full transcript is published beneath it, but the player itself is Google’s and we do not control it.
